From the moment
6 girls decided to take on the challenge
of hiring and navigating their own
houseboat, the men in our lives told
us it couldn’t be done. Determined
to prove them wrong we called Sundowner
and made the booking.
Sundowner
made the booking and payment process
easy, finally a group of males that
weren’t phased about an all girl crew!
We
hired the Snooty Fox an 8 berth houseboat
that was almost a home away from home,
fridge, oven, barbecue, shower even
a flushing toilet but most importantly
a big deck complete with sun lounges
for everyone!
Upon
arrival at the marina we discovered
the staff to be just as friendly and
helpful in person as they were over
the phone. Our Snooty Fox experience
began with a tour of the boat and
full instructions on how to operate
everything we would need on our journey.
We were also provided with a suggested
itinerary and comprehensive maps detailing
how to get there.
From
there we were chauffeured out of the
marina and received lessons on how
to drive the boat, once satisfied
that we knew what we were doing, (well,
that we could keep the boat between
the beacons atleast), they jumped
ship and left us to it… Not without
leaving us both an office and a mobile
phone number in case we got stuck.
And
so we set about proving that girl’s
really can do anything. Highlights
of the trip were, Tippler’s Resort,
aka South Stradbroke Island Resort,
Sanctuary Cove, Wave Break Island
and Surfers. We also recommend a stopover
at Couran Cove for a quick cocktail
or two.
We
won’t say that the trip was without
it’s small hiccups but nothing that
we didn’t easily overcome and we had
a whole lot of fun doing it!
The
team from Sundowner were excellent;
they were helpful, easily contactable
and promptly provided us with any
information or help that we required
on the trip. Not to mention they were
just a great bunch of people that
were always ready to have a chat and
a laugh with you.
We
would definitely recommend this experience
to anyone who was thinking about taking
up the challenge it was a load of
fun and proving that girls really
