Terms and Conditions

Holding Deposit: A deposit of $250.00 or ($500 for luxury vessels) is required at the time of booking to confirm the booking. Tentative bookings can only be held for a maximum of 7days (bookings without a deposit).

Hire Fees: The balance of the hire fee (total hire minus deposit paid) is payable 28 days prior to date of departure. If the booking is made within 28 days of the hire period then a 50% deposit is required and the balance is payable on the day of departure. Pickup time is 2pm on the day of departure and the vessels need to be returned by 9:00am on the day of return.

Fuel: Fuel is charged on an hourly basis while ever the motor is running. Each boat has an hour meter that logs the amount of time the motor has been running and these charges are settled upon your return.
Bond: A security bond is payable on all vessels prior to departure. A bond of $800 applies for standard vessels or $1500 for higher risks e.g. bucks parties, schoolies, etc.

Bond on luxury vessels is $1,500 or $3,000 for high-risk charters.

This bond is to cover any damage, loss or breakages that may occur during your charter and is refunded within 24 of the completion of the hire providing no damage occurred.

The boat is hired out in a clean and tidy state and it is expected that they will be returned in a similar condition; otherwise additional cleaning charges may apply.
The Charter: The vessel is made available to the charterer on the agreed date, unless the company is prevented from doing so by mechanical failure or unforseen circumstances outside of their control. In this case a substitute will be offered (if available), otherwise all monies paid will refunded and the charterer will have no claim or recourse against the company whatsoever. Management reserves the right to refuse the charterer access to the vessel if misleading booking information has been provided (eg. forgetting to mention that a “family pet” is travelling with them or a bucks party is planed!).
Changes to Bookings: Requests for date changes will only be considered if received in writing and provided it no less than 28 days prior to the departure date. Changes within 28 days of departure are not possible.
Cancellations: A cancellation fee is payable under the following circumstances:
If cancelled outside 28 days prior to departure date - $100 cancellation fee.
If cancelled inside 28 days prior to departure the full amount is forfeited, however if the vessel can be re-hired for the same hire fee, then only a $100 admin fee will apply. It is our recommendation that travel insurance be taken out to cover you in the event of any unforseen circumstances that result in you having to cancel your holiday.
Responsible person: Management requires that at least one person to be over 18 years of age, who will undergo the induction program and sign off to take full responsibly for the vessel during the charter.
Breach of Rules: Sundowner Houseboat Holidays reserves the right to refuse any hire if false or misleading information has been provided during the booking process and also reserves the right to terminate any hire mid trip should a breach of our terms and conditions occur. Under these circumstances the hirer will not be reimbursed and will have no recourse on Sundowner Houseboat Holidays whatsoever.
